True Range Pro Review

True Range Pro is a Forex robot for MT4 and MT5 that was launched on 9th September 2020. As per vendor claims, this system has a record of number 1 ROI in ZuluTrade. It is a fully automated system that trades in two currency pairs.

On the MQL5 product page, the vendor makes a very brief presentation. There is a list of features but none of them are explained in detail. Also, the vendor has not properly explained how the EA functions. We have a list of input parameters and vendor recommendations as well as screenshots showing the backtesting results.

Trading strategy explanation

True Range Pro is a fully automated EA that uses a hard stop loss for every single position. It has high spread protection and uses a dynamic basket to take profit for all trades. You have the option of trading with a fixed volume, or you can enable the auto volume option where the EA will calculate the volume based on your account size.

During the summer, you should set the GMT setting to GMT+3, while in the winter it should be GMT +2. The vendor recommends trading with a leverage of more than 1:100. It is advisable that you sign up with brokers like IC Markets, Forex Chief, and Weltrade.

True Range Pro uses indicators like Relative Strength Index (RSI) and Average True Range (ATR). You can change the counters and periods for these indicators from the EA settings. It is a FIFO-compatible system that allows you to adjust the maximum slippage, maximum allowed positions for each direction, and maximum spread.

This EA uses a night/intraday smart grid and scalping system. It opens a grid of orders and attempts to take advantage of the small price differentials in the market. This results in high-frequency trading and minor profits from each trade. Such a trading approach may not be suitable for all kinds of traders, especially beginners who might find it hard to deal with the stress.

Growth chart for True Range Pro.

Here we have a live trading account for True Range Pro that trades with leverage of 1:400. The EA has placed 1249 trades to date, winning 990 out of them, which means it has a profitability of 79%, which is slightly lower compared to the backtesting data.

One similarity with the backtesting results is the high drawdown which for this account is 29.22%. This confirms the fact that True Range Pro uses a high-risk grid strategy. The account has a profit factor of 2.40 and daily and monthly profits of 0.23% and 7.08%, respectively.

Trading results for True Range Pro.

As you can see from the trading history, the EA only earns minor profits from each trade. This means it will take a long time before you can make any sizable profits and given the high drawdown, the small profits can be wiped off in a few trades if the market were to move against you.

Vendor transparency

The vendor selling this product is Aleksei Ostroborodov, a Russian developer who is the founder of Smart Forex Lab. There is not enough information on this person’s background and trading history. Other EAs from this developer include Good Morning, Candelabrum, Traffic Pro, and Absolute FX.

Review summary

Pros

  • Available only for $95

Cons

  • High-risk trading strategy

  • Lack of vendor transparency

  • No money-back guarantee

True Range Pro is not a reliable EA because it is a scalping bot that is not suitable for long-term traders. The live trading account exhibits high drawdown and the vendor does not have a refund policy in place. Thus, you should stay away from it at all costs.
